Defying all odds, our very own dusky beauty of Nagpur has made it big in the Marathi TV industry. In a candid chat over the telephone, here’s what the lively Sanchita Kulkarni had to say:

Q. When was your 1st screen appearance?

As a kid, I was always mischievous and a very talkative girl. And this charmed a Producer-Director friend of my relative who visited us on some family occasion. He got me a show on DD National where I was to interview kids of my age. I was in class 3 then.

Q. Describe your early stints in the Industry.

My First print media Ad was for a magazine shoot when I was 16. While pursuing my graduation, I joined Radio Mirchi as an RJ and started modeling simultaneously. I was sure about getting into acting so prepared myself thoroughly, rehearsed and took part in similar events that could teach me the cult of this art. On the day of my last paper of Graduation, I auditioned for an Anchor Hunt show for Star News, wherein the panel consisted of Chetan Bhagat, Tisca Chopra, Deepak Chaurasia. I was one of the top-5 contestants.

Q. How did Mumbai treat you when you came?

Fortunately, very good. I struggled a lot in life but deciding to come to Mumbai was right. My stars were favoring me and it was my 3rd day in the city of dreams when I managed to bag a cameo role with Balaji Tele Films.

Q. How was your experience working with Hema Maliniji?

Last Diwali was extra auspicious for me as I got to work with the beautiful Hemaji for Meri Saheli Magazine’s Diwali edition, which received tremendous response.

Q. Tell us about your current TV serial.

My first and on going show Preeti Pari Tuzvari, as a lead character was the first Marathi daily show where they had introduced double role for the first time. And this being my first show is very close to me.

Q. Who has been the Inspiration in your life?

My mother has always been my inspiration and constant support throughout my struggle in this competitive Industry. She is a housewife and also runs a Bakery. She completely defines existence and meaning of this beautiful word ‘Mother’. She is my Power.

Q. Do you get to visit your hometown Nagpur often?

In the last 2years I visited Nagpur just once that too for promotions. I stayed at Centre Point Hotel, went straight to the Promotion Event. Even my mother had to come to the Hotel to meet me. I couldn’t go home as well and had to leave in the evening same day. And I miss Nagpur terribly.

Q. What do you advice the youngsters of Nagpur seeking a career like you?

Its always about passion be it any stream or field. I congratulate the team of ThinkinBirds who has come up with this inspirational concept of promoting Art and Artists of Nagpur. Long way to go Team Thinkin’Nagpur. And yes, I am an Artist, not a Labourer. Stay Blessed.
