Guddu Wasim Khan is the perfect example when it comes to not letting anything hinder his existence. After being paralysed from his right side of the body completely, Guddu Wasim, at the age of 42 years, repairs punctures for a living at Shankar Nagar Square.
Born in a small village of Bihar, Guddu Wasim spent his childhood in Katihar. The rebel in him made him leave his village at an early age and took him to the city of dreams, Mumbai. Hailing from a poor family, Guddu Wasim started working at a tyre shop in the daytime and a taxi driver in the night to make his ends meet.
Post which he tried his hand as a bus conductor in Mumbai itself and then also went on to become a bus driver.
It was the chilling night of December 28th 1990, when his life took a dreadful turn. The bus he was driving met with an accident,
which was so awful that in the process of saving the kids on board he lost his entire right side of the body.
Humanity pays in ways one can never imagine. The parents of the kids he saved got his treatment done and saved his life.
Paralysis might have taken his right side limbs but it couldn’t take his will. He came to Nagpur and resumed working and repairing punctures with just one hand and leg. He recalls an incident when a student had come to him to get his vehicle’s puncture repaired and couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw that Guddu Wasim is just working with one set of limbs. He took a video of him working which even got viral on social media.
His strength and never give up attitude will leave you completely awestruck.
His family still stays in Bihar, comprising of his wife and three kids, two sons; one in 10th std and the other in 1st year, a daughter who is in 12th std. He works from 7.30AM to 11PM repairing 12 punctures on an average everyday and earning 60-80₹ per puncture.
Fighting all the odds he never let his children suffer or anything hinder their education.
