Black and Grey – A style of tattooing that uses only black ink and water. The black ink is watered down in order to create softer shades of grey for shading and highlighting. Nowadays, it is also common to see tattoo artists use black ink and premade grey washes when working in black and grey.

Blackwork – A style of tattooing characterized by the use of bold, black geometric shapes to make various images or designs.

Blowout – This is what occurs when a tattoo is not applied properly and goes too deep into the skin. This causes the ink to “settle” strangely creating a minor cloudy effect around the initial design.

Body Suit – When the majority of someone’s body is covered in tattoos.

Miniatures paintings – Miniatures paintings are beautiful handmade paintings, which are quite colorful but small in size. The highlight of these paintings is the intricate and delicate brushwork, which gives them a unique identity. The colors are handmade, from minerals, vegetables, precious stones, indigo, conch shells, pure gold and silver.

Phulkari (Punjabi: ਫੁਲਕਾਰੀ) – embroidery technique from the Punjab region (divided between India and Pakistan) literally means flower work, which was at one time used as the word for embroidery, but in with time became restricted to embroidered shawls and head scarfs only.

Kasuti (Kannada: ಕಸೂತಿ) – is a traditional form of folk embroidery practised in the state of Karnataka, India.

Chikankari: (Lucknow) – The technique of creation of a chikan work is known as chikankari (चिकनकारी چکن کاری). Chikan is a delicate and artfully done hand embroidery on a variety of textile fabric like muslin, silk, chiffon, organza, net, etc.
